Motorists, Residents, Groan Over Hike In Petrol Price As Scarcity Persists In Oyo

Residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital are lamenting the price increase of the premium motor spirit, otherwise called petroleum product.
In this vox pop conducted by oyoecho in Ibadan, which was represented by a driver and a commuter, our correspondent reports that the fuel scarcity is biting harder at the moment.
Speaking with our correspondent, a driver said the price of the fuel varies at different filling stations across the state, ranging between N250 and N300 as they queue for up to four to five hours before getting fuel.
A driver who simply identified himself as Mr. Oluseyi at Molete Park said the fuel price has adversely affect on him and other commercial transport oprators.
He noted that feeding the family is very hard for him, saying there is low patronage   as passengers returns home when they are told the amount of the transport fare increase.
“We don’t know the cause of the fuel increase. We find it hard to get fuel these days. At times we queue for four hours before we could get fuel and the passengers are complaining, there is no profit in transport business again. If I earn N7000 a day, i can spend N5000 on fuel and also settle the road safety, thugs and police on the road.  I still need to feed my family, things are tough right now, the government should help us,” he lamented.
Speaking with one of the commuters at the park, Oluwasegun Folorunsho lamented that he had missed an interview because of the price hike.
“last week we bought fuel for N190 per liter and this week it has increased to N250,  there is no one that will say that he is  happy about the current situation of things in Nigeria. Transport fare is expensive i had to return home when I wanted to travel for an interview because it was more than my budget, i just plead to the government to come to our aid” he said.
