Insecurity: CFR/NST Rate Oyo Insecure State In 2020

Council on Foreign Relations’ Nigeria Security Tracker (CFR/NST) has rated Oyo state as a second insecured state in Nigeria for 2020 for the increase in deaths and kidnappings in the Southwestern zone of Nigeria.

According to doubleaexclusive.com, data analyses published by the Council on Foreign Relations’ Nigeria Security Tracker (CFR/NST), Oyo State under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde recorded 80 deaths and 15 kidnappings in 2020 alone.

The website said the statisense tweeted on it Twitter handle reveled that there were 8,279 deaths recorded from insecurity, which include insurgency, banditry, cultism robbery, kidnapping and among others. Also, 2,860 kidnapping cases were officially documented.

It noted that the Nigeria Security Tracker (NST) tracks violence that is both causal and symptomatic of Nigeria’s political instability and citizen alienation. The data are based on weekly surveys of Nigerian and international media.
