Party Structure Not In Your Care – PDP Factional Chair Tells Makinde

...says other faction lacks merit to reconcile

The factional chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Hon. Michael Okunlade on Wednesday said 70 percent of the party faithfuls belongs to his camp.

He said the other faction of the party in the state lack merit to reconcile all members because the party does not belong to them.

Okunalde who was apparently reacting to the statement made by the governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde on Tuesday while hosting factional leadership of the party said the real members of the PDP in the state will use their vote to identify where the structure belong in 2023.

Makinde while hosting faction of the party, led by Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro said even the aggrieved members know where the party structure is, urging them to be fair with the aggrieved, if they repented.

But Okunlade in a statement he personally signed in Ibadan wondered why Governor Makinde would make such a remarks without taking a bold steps to appeal to the real owners of the party in the state.

According to the statement, the recent state congress of the party where many trooped out to ventilate their anger over the deceit of the governor without receiving money from anyone is an indication that PDP has rejected the governor and his co-travelers.

The statement reads; “In Oyo state PDP today, I can tell you that about 70 percent of our members are aggrieved. Even those with him are aggrieved but lack effortary to challenge the governor. Governor Makinde is not sincere to himself.

“How can those he appointed at his Lekan Salami’s congress be the ones to approach the owners of the party in his failed reconciliation move? When it is time in 2023, the faithful members of the party will use their vote to tell them that we are the real owner of our party.

“Since he has achieved his dreams on the platform of our party, the governor has been paying lip service to mediate between the two factions of the party in the state. We know the judgment day is fast approaching,” he concluded.
